KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of Arabian gold, petrol, sugar and flour edged up in capital Kabul during the just concluded week, market sources said on Saturday.

Food Traders Union head Fazal Rahman told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of a 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar bag increased from 2,430 afghanis to 2,470 afghanis, 49 kilograms of Kazakh flour from 1,320 afghanis to 1,340afs and 16 liters of Shahista ghee from 1,030afs to 1,050afs during the week.

He linked the increased prices to low imports. However, he said 24.5kg of Pakistani rice cost 1,550afs, the same price as of last week’s.

Haji Rahmatullah, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Madina green tea cost 240afs and the same amount of African black tea 260afs.

But a retailer in Taimani area of Kabul, Abdul Wakil, sold a 49kg bag of flour for 1,450afs, a 59-kg sack of sugar for 2,500afs and a 24-kg bag of rice for 1,800afs.

He sold a 16-liter tin of Shahista ghee for 1,200afs, a kilo of African black tea for 280afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea for 260afs -- higher than wholesale prices.

A filling station worker in Wazirabad locality, Abdul Hadi, said the price of one liter of petrol increased from 41afs to 42afs while the price of same quantity of diesel remained steady at 37afs.

Mohammad Salim, a liquefied gas seller in Pul Padsha neighborhood, said the rate of one kg of gas was 65afs, the same rate as of last week’s.

The price of Arabian gold also increased.

Basir Ahmad, a jeweller in Lycee Maryam area of Kabul, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 2,500 afghanis to 2,400 afghanis and the same amount of Russian variety from 1,950 afghanis to 1,900 afghanis.

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweller in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 2,400afs to 2,430afs and of the same quantity of the Russian variety stood stable at 1,950afs.

According to Saray Shahzada Moneychangers Union, the buying rate of one US dollar was 66.60afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 625afs. Last week's exchange value of the dollar stood at 66.90afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 628afs.
